Here is something that happened last week………
Nina went on a much-awaited vacation with her partner, Rudra, to an island. The trip started off on a very positive note, and both of them were filled with excitement in their eyes as it was their first trip together, having been planned for a long time. The first day went amazing, beyond their expectations, as they explored the place. Nina and Rudra indulged in the beauty of nature, much to their hearts’ content. After a wonderful island voyage, while they were having hearty moments of laughter during dinner, a message chimed in Nina’s phone.
Oh, I forgot to tell you – Nina is a Senior Associate in her organization, holding a leading position. Rudra is a highly popular professor at the leading college in the country. The message was from Nina’s senior management, and the moment she glanced through it, there were drops of sweat on her forehead. She started taking deep breaths and turned-on the fan even with the AC on.
Let’s know what exactly happened. Her management texted her about some new managerial decisions about cost-cutting. Well, we can say that it’s a sheer coincidence that the message came in when both were having one of their best times till now. But whatever is meant to be, is. Nina kind of went into spiraling thoughts, being apprehensive that it meant a lay-off and that it might be a bolt from the blue for her.
Rudra came into the picture and said some true words. He expressed that it will be a favorable decision for Nina, considering how sincere and ambitious she is with her work. With a tight hug, he convinced Nina that she was spoiling the wonderful moments because of her overthinking and negative thoughts. They are meant to experience every beautiful moment of this vacation; otherwise, there will be regret later.
Well, the secret to happiness is to live in the present and be in the moment of this dynamic life rather than being apprehensive about the future or regretting the past.
As right as Rudra was, both of them enjoyed every single moment of this trip to make it a memorable one. Rudra was leaving for the States the next month, and hence this deserved to be a wonderful time for both.
Once Nina reported to the office, she investigated the message she received from management. Much to her awe, the news turned out to be totally opposite to what she had apprehended. With more workload coming in and Nina being a sincere and ambitious employee, the management decided to give her a double promotion, making her the new VP. Her jaw dropped as she nearly jumped in amazement.
So, wasn’t it a wise decision to enjoy the trip at the moment? Had they mourned over the negative thoughts, they would have spoiled the wonderful trip before both of them started their new journeys, miles apart. More so, such negativity often attracts negative reality.
Does Nina’s story resonate with you? The next time you embark on your trip, remember what Nina and Rudra did. They shared this wonderful realization as they came to my retreat.
We know it’s difficult to begin living our lives in the present; distracting thoughts of the past and anticipating the future often hinder this joy. But choosing to live in the past or future robs you of pure joy and stops you from experiencing what it is to enjoy the moment.
Living in the moment lets you trust yourself and the Universe; it lets you find beauty in everything, experience joy every moment, feel happy without reason, spend quality time with wonderful people, attract amazing connections, and be truly successful in life. It lets you realize your true potential, desires, passions, goals, and aspirations. Being in the moment helps you be highly productive.
So, How do you Live in the Moment?
1. Mindful meditation
Start appreciating the present moment and meditate in total peace. Find a quiet time and place to be on your own. Breathe into the senses of your environment to release any stress and tension, sit calmly, and pay attention to the current situation. Noticing things around you is the first step in meditation. You can meditate even while in your office, while commuting to work, sitting at a library, or in any other possible instance you can think of.
Be mindful of your existence and current environment. Meditation and being mindful are different. You can combine both to experience a wonderful journey of inwardness. Do mindful eating, sleeping, walking, and working. Be aware of your senses and mindful of your thoughts and actions. Be alert to the sounds, sights, and smells around you.
Mindful meditation is the key to staying in the moment. However, undergoing this journey might be difficult all by myself. Do a mindfulness certification or reach out to the best life coach in India at Matrrix, who can guide you through the secrets of this amazing way of life.
2. Appreciate what you have
How To Be More Present? Instead of seeing what you don’t have, do you ever express gratitude for what you already have? Did you realize how blessed or privileged you are compared to others? Count your blessings, and you will attract more. See all that you have, which many don’t have. Have a sense of gratitude for this brilliant life and all the moments you experience. Be thankful for this moment as well as the fact that you are reading this article.
3. Embrace all the emotions
The common human tendency is to dodge the painful feelings and embrace the happiest moments. Well, to be at the moment, embrace all the emotions – joy, sorrow, success, and failure. Be open to every different emotion you feel and appreciate it. This proves that you are here at the moment without any resistance.
4. Stop worrying
What is meant to be, will be. So, there is no point in worrying about the future. We know it’s easier said than done. But worrying too much about tomorrow will deter your current flow of life and even restrict you from putting in your best efforts.
5. Love what you do or do what you love
A lot of people cry over the Monday blues. Well, that is obvious if you don’t love your work. Either find a job that you can love or make up your mind to love what you already have. If you just work to earn a living, you are merely surviving and not living. In that way, you are already wasting 5 days a week, every week, month, and year.
6. Let go
This is one of the Key Ways to Living in the Moment. Do you know what it means to forgive? Forgiving is not forgetting. Forgiveness means healing and letting go of the past. For instance, if you had a broken relationship, how do you feel about it when you see a photo of such a memory or get flashbacks of such days? If you feel angry, guilty, or heavy, you are still living in the past. The moment that person stands in front of you, do you feel like taking revenge or escaping from the situation? You have not forgiven them. You are just trying to forcefully forget.
Forgiving means releasing. It feels like loving yourself and helping yourself to let go of those negative emotions. When you will know you can stand that person you loved and that person will not have any effect on you, you have forgiven them. You do not have to forget; rather, those memories will have no effect on you apart from making you feel glad that you have been able to experience such times.
