Competition pushes you to achieve something, while Inspiration helps an individual to learn from others and better themselves in any and every way possible.
While travelling through the city in peak traffic, I had an epiphany. Life is like a race, and everyone is competing for the first position. We’re all just running, mindlessly, to acquire a position that puts us above the rest. People manage to live their lives in the form of a drone, and forget that the true meaning of life is to win through inspiration, and not competition. Competition and Inspiration are two polar opposites. While the former induces a state of mind that only promotes winning at any cost, the latter encourages its patrons to learn, admire and get educated about the object of their inspiration.
Competition is a very hard-hitting concept, it has always promoted the idea of getting ahead. When a person is in competition with his/her peers, the emotions get clouded with negative feelings like jealousy, aggression and the need to be the absolute best. Upon succeeding in the race of competition, one usually gets jaded with arrogance and the personality of the individual just changes overnight. Whereas, inspiration is a concept that promotes positivity. When a person is inspired, it is more of a cosmic happening in the person’s internal being. They are more focused towards learning and mastering the art than only excelling at it.
Agreed that competition has been the benefactor of various known personalities today, but inspiration has also contributed equally towards such personalities. When competing for anything, you are like a horse with blinkers on. You lose sight of the beauty around you, and you fail to learn through your journey, because you are too focused on reaching the destination. With inspiration though, you learn that the journey is just as beautiful as the destination. You learn and pick up a lot of positives through the journey, and this leads to you reaching your destination as a more mature and experienced individual.
Whether you’re a parent or a leader, whether you’re a teacher or a mentor, leading by inspiration helps you achieve far more in life than running in a competitive race alone.
If competition and inspiration were living and breathing humans, competition would stand for overtaking and rising above the rest, while inspiration would stand for self-growth and spiritual transcendence. This is because competition usually is a feeling that exists on a superficial level for materialistic gains, while inspiration is a more soulful approach at life and it helps achieve the motto of knowledge over wealth. There are times when people who are competing get stuck in a rut, because they are so busy cloning their actions to win, that they forget to apply themselves to gain solutions; while inspired people are always so keen on developing their skills, that they use their creative output to find a way through thick and thin!
Though competition and comparison are not considered a bad thing in today’s society, it can have a very negative effect on its victims. No two fingerprints are ever the same, so how can we expect two individuals to give us the same results? Every personality is made to achieve a feat of their own, and having these personalities compete in a game of numbers or targets limits their performances by a vast margin. In times like these, it is better to encourage individuals to choose the path of inspiration, because this would help them achieve great things in a unique manner of their own.
Competition and comparisons have become a virus in society that lead to a lot of people getting disappointed in life, and losing their true potential in a race that can’t be won. If we work towards replacing the concept of competition with inspiration, the results will be monumental; because when people apply themselves and their entire being, instead of just their competing spirit, to any concept, the solutions would be truly awe-worthy.
