“All our dreams can come true; if we have the courage to pursue them.”- Walt Disney
“Success isn’t overnight. It’s when every day you get a little better than the day before. It all adds up.” – Dwayne Johnson
So as strongly said by Dwane, there is nothing called failure. Either success or learning, once it’s done, it's success, and until then, it’s the journey. All the worthwhile steps led to this triumph.
Now, what do you mean by success? Apparently, a lot of people would say owning a house where you can live comfortably or being in a foreign country comfortably. To a few others, it might mean getting a BMW or tons of money to be able to fulfil every wish.
Success has its own definition for everyone. What is it with you?
Forms of success
Let’s see the most important 7 different kinds of success – You might know some and not know a few others.
1. Materialistic success
This is the most common form of success for the majority of people. This refers to material possessions in life like houses, mansions, clothes, vehicles, and jewelry. Ideally, these are the assets in your possession. Well, a lot of people define success as having all these possessions at their disposal. If you feel it is a success and matches your principles and morals, this is a victory for you.
“Success is survival.” – Leonard Cohen
2. Career related success
This is one of the most cherished successes for any individual. It can be your job, business, self-employment, or any profession. If you are a musician, your career success is to be able to do music in a flourishing way, gaining a lot of fame, popularity, inner content, money, and audience. Career success can't be compared to anyone, unlike materialistic success.
For the latter, you can indicate that Avish has one BMW while Rohini owns an Audi, both working for the same media company as AVP. But when it comes to career success, it’s a feeling that says you have achieved what you want to be known for. You need to know what you want when it comes to your career.
“Nothing is impossible, the word itself says ‘I’m possible’!” – Audrey Hepburn
3. Financial success
It entails you, having enough finances to be able to meet all your needs in professional or personal spheres of life. It can be your earnings, revenue from business, or return on investment.
“Success is a lousy teacher. It seduces smart people into thinking they can’t lose.” – Bill Gates
4. Family success
You need enough commitment to be able to achieve family success. Building a strong base for your family and making tons of compromises in your life takes a lot of effort. Making a safe place to stay for yourself and your family and making all ends meet for them is truly a success you want to treasure. However, success in this sphere of life will be more holistic if you do it from your heart and do not feel it to be a duty. In the latter case, it is likely that you will feel bound by responsibilities.
5. Physical success
This includes how your body feels inside out. Whether you are fit and fine, have a strong body, have a leaner body tone, are physically healthy without any diseases, sleep well, exercise daily, or have high energy levels, all these factors count toward physical success. It also encompasses whether you have the right diet and nutrition to fuel your body in the right way. When it comes to appearance, it is a significant aspect of physical success. Your looks, hair, eyes, smile, walk, the way you talk, etc. all count toward physical success.
6. Travelling success
Success for many means being able to travel independently, freely, and with flexibility. You might be a tourist with some travel destinations in mind. For all of you, travel might not be a success. However, if you are a traveler with intense passion for exploring places, not caring about anything else, then travel is a success. Well, you might need enough financial freedom to be able to travel, but it's not necessary. You can still fulfill your travel goals with the resources you have. You can move to places, be a volunteer or a host there, serve the place with your skills, and get accommodated with a stay and food. There are many out there who have fulfilled their travel goals with less money at their disposal and are still successful in travel.
7. Inner success = emotional/mental success + spiritual success
This is the best form of success you can achieve in life. This is the most difficult form of success and requires the most effort, way more than any of the others listed above. It’s about being calm, poised, and having your mind in control at any point in life and in any situation. This success would entail you feeling content from the inside, no matter what you do or where you are. It’s a feeling of calmness and peace inside, where you feel in balance no matter what life throws at you. Remember what Roosevelt said?
“Do what you can, with what you’ve got, where you are.” – Teddy Roosevelt
Inner success results in a more positive outlook on life and being happy with whatever you get in life. It’s about believing in your abilities. Spiritual success means being flexible in life, accepting the flow of life, and being mentally tough. It’s about believing that whatever is happening is happening for a reason. With mental success, you can overcome fear, anxiety, tension, depression, overthinking, and panic.
“There is little success where there is little laughter.” – Andrew Carnegie
